Fast forward to the time in your life when you have kids of your own, and imagine that you’re about to send them off to college. What’s the first thing you’ll want to know? If ‘Will they be safe?’ comes to mind, you’re not unlike the many, many parents who ask us about that very thing. Fortunately, here at Siena, we’re happy to be able to put your parents at ease.
The Department of Public Safety at Siena College consistently maintains a safe campus environment through a range of services that reflect our Franciscan and Catholic values. Here are some fast facts about our school when it comes to safety:
-
The Siena Alert System (SAS) allows us to send urgent text alerts to registered cell phones, emails, pagers and web pages
-
Our Welcome Booth is staffed by a Public Safety Officer, our Public Safety Office is staffed 24 hours a day and our campus gates close nightly at 9:00 p.m.
-
We offer late night transport/escort service, 24-hour emergency telephones and controlled dormitory access
-
Year after year, CQ Press ranks Colonie, our hometown, as one of the safest cities in the United States
We really do pride ourselves on keeping our students, faculty, administrators, staff and campus visitors feeling protected day in and day out. It’s part of what makes our campus really feel like a community where everyone cares for each other. (And it’s one of the many reasons why, every year, thousands of parents feel comfortable sending their children to Siena.)
