If you've been on one of our campus tours, you already know that our guides, also called student ambassadors, are fantastic and just as enthusiastic about Siena as we are. But they're just so awesome, that we've decided to give you an even closer look at who they are and what brought them to our campus for the first time.
First up, meet Andy Murphy '17. He's a marketing major from Westmoreland, NY, and the vice president of our Student Senate.
What was your first impression of Siena?
I got to know and love the school through my older brother, Ryan; "Murph," as I call him, graduated in 2014. I've known about Siena since my freshman year of high school, and when I came here for the Mr. Siena event, I fell in love. I got my first real impression of the school at an event for juniors, where I immediately felt at home. I knew this is where I had to go.
Why did you want to become an ambassador?
I want everyone's first or possibly second trip to Siena to be as memorable as possible. I want to share my love and passion for Siena with everyone else. The school has so much to offer and I want to be able to share all of it with prospective families.
What's the most interesting question you've been asked on a tour?
The most interesting question to this day has been, "What kind of internships does the city of Albany offer?"
I knew Siena was right for me when...?
...When I stepped onto campus and everyone said hello to me.
You know you're at Siena when...?
...When Friars are teaching the classes. The best part is, when you get to know them, you realize they're like everyone else!
Any advice for prospective students?
Get involved on campus early. I was able to get my internships by participating in Pathfinders, which gives first-year students the opportunity to work closely with Admissions.
