Ten Scholarships You Can Still Apply For

Whether you represent a particular geographic region, are involved in an inspiring cause or tower over your friends in height, we've compiled a list of ten scholarships you may have never heard of, but are totally eligible for. And if you start now, you'll still have plenty of time to apply before the deadlines. Take note, high school sophomores and juniors: some of these are for you, too!

Deadline: March 1, 2016

Award: $2,500 - $5,000

Details: You must be a resident of Maine who's entering college for the first time in the fall. You must also demonstrate a commitment to character, specifically through courage, integrity, responsibility and concern. (As a prospective Siena student, we're sure you have all of those!)

2. Children of Warriors National Presidents' Scholarship

Deadline: March 1, 2016

Award: $2,500 - $3,500

Details: Open to daughters, sons, granddaughters, grandsons, great-granddaughters or great-grandsons of veterans who served in the Armed Forces during WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, Lebanon and Grenada or Desert Shield/War on Terrorism. You also need to complete 50 hours of community service throughout your high school years.

3. Tall Clubs International Student Scholarship

Deadline: March 1, 2016

Award: $1,000

Details: Female applicants must be at least 5'10" and male applicants must be at least 6'2". (Yup, that's it.)

4. Toyota TeenDrive365

Deadline: March 7, 2016

Award: Up to $15,000

Details: Get your cameras ready. Create a 30-60 second video for fellow teen drivers that hightlights the importance of safe driving. If chosen, you'll have the chance to reshoot your video with a Discovery film crew!

5. Posterize Pollution Scholarship

Deadline: March 31, 2016

Award: $3,000

Details: Sponsored by DoSomething.org, a site dedicated to young people and social change, capture yourself "slam dunking" recyclables into a recycling bin to encourage others to go green. (Sounds like the perfect opportunity for our hoops-loving Saints.)

6. Superpower Scholarship

Deadline: March 31, 2016

Award: $2,500

Details: If you're on track to start college by the fall of 2022, channel your inner Superman or Wonder Woman. In 250 words or less, explain which superhero or villain you would want to trade places with for one day and why.

7. Virtual Business Scholarship

Deadline: April 1, 2016

Award: $2,000

Details: Thinking about entering Siena's School of Business? This scholarship is for high school juniors or seniors interested in business, marketing or personal finance. You must be nominated by a teacher and exhibit excellence and accomplishment in the use of technology in these subjects.

8. Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes

Deadline: April 15, 2016

Award: $5,000

Details: Demonstrate your selflessness, positive spirit and courage by highlighting your initiative and involvement in an inspiring service activity. This prize can be applied to your education or to furthering your project. (In case you didn't know, we're big on service at Siena.)

9. The Scholarship for Redheads

Deadline: April 27, 2016

Award: $500

Details: Applicants should be in good academic standing, supply two photos as proof of hair color and create something that represents what it means to be a redhead—an essay, drawing, YouTube video...your choice!

10. WyzAnt College Scholarship

Deadline: May 1, 2016

Award: $2,000 - $10,000

Details: Submit a 300-word essay describing a person who has inspired you. Then, share your essay on social media to collect more votes!
