When it’s a little too chilly to hang outside, Siena students cluster together in the dorms and watch movie after movie on Netflix. We’re like one big cozy family that sometimes wants to pretend we’re back in grade school, that classes are cancelled because we’re snowed in and there’s nothing better to do than relax. (Actually, that does happen.) And in honor of the season and the dropping temps outdoors, we thought we’d talk cinema today. Here are 10 flicks that were actually filmed right here in the Capital Region.

The college you eventually enroll in should open doors for you. It should prepare you for your career, but also for your life. Wondering if Siena can do that for you? Anyone who works here would be happy to tell you all the ways it can (and we probably have already), but today, take it from a current student who’s in the thick of it all. In this post, our second student profile, meet Megan Brousseau.

It’s about time you meet a couple current students here on the blog. Why? Because they’re awesome, of course, but also because they have a unique perspective on what Siena College can offer its students. They’re in the heart of it, right now, going through the Siena experience. And if you’re still undecided about where you’d like to spend the next four years, their words could help point you in the right direction.

Still haven’t completed your college application essay and feeling really…stumped? There’s nothing worse than staring at a blank computer screen, knowing your deadline is fast approaching. But don’t let a case of writer’s block deter you from getting your applications in on time. Like we said last month, we’re continually impressed with where our graduates end up and the accomplishments they’re achieving. And because it’s important for you to know where Siena alumni go, we’ll keep writing about them here. This month, we chatted with Toby Sorge ’06, who was recently selected as a Master Teacher through the Master Teaching Project.

Did November 15 sneak up on you? We hope not, but if it did, we have good news. We’ve extended the deadline for Siena College’s Fast Forward application to January 5.

Siena students are a lot of things—smart, driven, kind, funny, athletic—okay, okay, you get the idea. But perhaps above everything, if you were to ask any Siena grad to describe the student body here, one word you’d probably hear is “giving.” 

Calling all college students who are thinking about transferring! If you’re reading this, there's a good chance you're interested in finishing up your degree at Siena College—and to that we say, welcome home. In October, we shelled out some advice to help make the transferring process easier. Now, we’d like to share with you a few insights from some Siena graduates and current students, all transfers, about why they transferred or what their experience was like.

Every month, our admissions team will post a checklist of a couple things you could be doing at that time to 1) move along in the admissions process, or 2) better prepare yourself for when you’re ready to apply. Here’s our advice for December.
